ChatGPT Mention Tracker

Check whether ChatGPT names your brand, cites your pages, or hands the recommendation to a competitor. One prompt is a snapshot; this page also explains what a real tracking programme measures, and why analytics cannot see most of it.

  • No signup
  • Runs in your browser
  • Competitors included

We'll ask 5 AI engines this question and check if your URL is cited.

How AI citation tracking works

We send your topic to ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, and Copilot in parallel. Then we parse each response looking for: (a) a direct link to your URL, (b) a text mention of your domain, or (c) content from your page quoted without attribution.

If you're not cited, we also surface which competitors are — so you know exactly who to beat.

Simple workflow

From raw input to
an actionable answer.

Three steps, in order. Nothing leaves your browser at any of them.

  1. Step 01

    Enter a buyer prompt

Use a prompt a real customer would type — a category question, a comparison, or a problem statement — rather than your own brand name.

  2. Step 02

    Read the answer critically

Note whether you are named first, mentioned in passing, cited with a link, or absent while a competitor is recommended. Those are four different outcomes.

  3. Step 03

    Repeat and trend it

AI answers are probabilistic. Run the same prompt again over days rather than screenshotting one response and treating it as the result.

Built for useful decisions

Everything you need.
No API bill.

The analysis runs on deterministic rules in your browser, which is why it stays fast, free and inspectable — and why we can tell you exactly what it cannot check.

01

Build a buyer-prompt set

Track category, comparison, problem, and competitor prompts. One prompt is a snapshot; a prompt set is a market signal.

02

Run repeated samples

AI answers change. Run the same prompt multiple times and trend mention rate instead of trusting one response.

03

Classify the mention

Separate first recommendation, passing mention, competitor-only answer, direct citation, and silent mention.

04

Record cited sources

The source ChatGPT cites often matters more than your own page. Build content and links around the sources it trusts.

05

Measure share of voice

Track your brand against competitors by prompt, topic, engine, sentiment, and answer position.

06

Turn gaps into fixes

Each missing prompt becomes a content, schema, llms.txt, Reddit, backlink, or entity-graph action.

Search demand

ChatGPT mention queries this tracker answers

The intent here is action: teams want to know whether ChatGPT is recommending them right now, and what to do about it if not.

What to measure

What a real mention tracker measures.

Six metrics, each answering a different question. Mention rate alone tells you almost nothing about whether you are winning the category.

Mention rate
Percent of tracked ChatGPT answers where your brand appears.

Your first visibility baseline.

First-answer rate
Percent of answers where your brand is the first recommendation.

The metric closest to category leadership.

Citation rate
Percent of answers that cite or link to your owned URL.

Shows whether your content is being used as evidence.

Competitor share
How often each competitor appears for the same prompts.

Reveals who ChatGPT trusts instead of you.

Source overlap
Which third-party pages influence answers across prompts.

Turns PR and link building into a concrete worklist.

Sentiment
Positive, neutral, mixed, or negative wording around the mention.

Catches reputation risk before it reaches buyers.

ChatGPT mentions are not the same as SEO rankings

A Google ranking is a position on a page you can screenshot and re-check. A ChatGPT mention is the outcome of a generated answer that may differ between runs, between accounts, and between sessions. The unit of measurement is not a position — it is a rate across repeated samples.

That difference matters for reporting. A single answer where you appear is not evidence that you are visible, and a single answer where you do not is not evidence that you are invisible. Both are one draw from a distribution, which is why serious tracking uses a fixed prompt set run on a schedule.

Why analytics cannot show you this

GA4 can attribute a session when someone clicks a link inside a ChatGPT answer. It cannot see the far more common case: the assistant recommends you, the user reads the recommendation, and then searches your brand name or types your domain directly. That visit arrives as branded organic or direct, with nothing connecting it to the AI answer that caused it.

This is the gap the term silent mention describes. It is also why AI visibility has to be measured on the answer side rather than the traffic side — you have to ask the engines what they say, because the analytics record of what they caused does not exist.

FAQ

Questions people ask
before using it.

Including what this tool cannot tell you, which is usually the more useful half.

01

How do I track brand mentions in ChatGPT?

Create a fixed set of buyer prompts, run them in ChatGPT on a schedule, record whether your brand appears, classify the position and sentiment, and compare against competitors. Georion automates this across ChatGPT plus other AI engines.

02

Can Google Analytics show ChatGPT mentions?

No. GA4 can show some referrals from chatgpt.com when users click a link, but it cannot see silent mentions where ChatGPT recommends your brand and the user later searches or visits directly.

03

What counts as a ChatGPT mention?

A mention can be a direct brand recommendation, a passing reference, a comparison table entry, a citation link, or an unlinked domain reference. For reporting, track these separately because they have different business value.

04

Is one ChatGPT prompt run enough?

No. AI answers are probabilistic and can change between runs. For serious tracking, use repeated samples and look at trend lines, not a single screenshot.

05

Can I track competitor mentions in ChatGPT?

Yes. The useful workflow is not only whether ChatGPT mentions you, but which competitors it mentions instead and which sources appear to support those recommendations.
