How We Built Melody Genie: A Case Study in Shipping AI Products Fast

By the Georion team · April 29, 2026 · 12 min read

When people ask what Georion does, the easiest answer is: we build SEO and GEO infrastructure for SaaS companies. The harder answer is: we use that infrastructure on ourselves to ship our own products. Melody Genie is the most ambitious of those products — an AI lyric generator that has crossed 2,400 active songwriters in seven months, supports 15+ languages, and competes head-to-head with venture-backed incumbents.

This post is a behind-the-scenes look at how Melody Genie was built, what made it work, and what we learned shipping a niche AI product into a crowded market.

The problem we wanted to solve

Generic AI lyric tools — and there are dozens of them now — produce text that sounds like it was written by a committee. You ask ChatGPT to write a Drake-style verse and you get something that uses the word "vibes" four times and has zero specific cultural references. You try LyricStudio or Freshbots and the rhyme schemes are formulaic, the slang is generic, and the output reads like every other AI lyric.

The reason is simple: most lyric generators are large language models with a one-line prompt. There's no underlying model of how a specific artist actually writes. That works for novelty. It does not work for songwriters who need bars they can record and release.

We wanted to build something that did the opposite — analyze how an artist actually constructs songs, and generate lyrics in that exact style. The technical name we settled on for this is Style DNA.

What Style DNA actually does

Style DNA is a quantitative profile extracted from 14 to 20 real songs per artist. For each artist, the system extracts:

Once we have the Style DNA profile, generation is conditioned on it. The engine is Claude Haiku 4.5, which is fast enough for real-time generation and good enough at instruction-following to respect the style constraints. The result is lyrics that don't just gesture at an artist's style — they reproduce the actual mechanics.

Seven tools, one platform

Most lyric tools offer one feature: type a prompt, get lyrics. We wanted Melody Genie to be a complete songwriting workstation. Here's the breakdown of the seven tools that ship today:

1. AI Lyric Generator — the foundation. Pick an artist from 40+ pre-analyzed Style DNA profiles, set theme and length, get a full song in that artist's exact voice. This is the tool most users start with.

2. Beat Matcher — upload an instrumental, the system uses Whisper to detect BPM, vibe, and energy, then generates lyrics with syllable counts that actually match the tempo. Beats above 120 BPM get short punchy bars; beats under 80 BPM get fluid melodic lines. This is the tool that most surprised us in user testing — producers love it because it solves a real workflow problem.

3. Artist DNA Mixer — blend two or three artists with custom percentages. 50% Drake + 30% Feid + 20% Travis Scott produces something that doesn't exist in nature: bilingual punchlines with melodic hooks and Houston textures. This was the feature that went viral on TikTok in February.

4. Auto-Lyric (Hum to Flow) — record yourself humming or freestyling. The system extracts your BPM, phrase length, and syllable patterns, then writes lyrics that match your cadence. For songwriters who think melodically before lyrically, this changes the workflow entirely.

5. Speak — Chat With Artists — converse with any artist on the platform. They respond in their slang, mindset, and preferred language. It's a discovery tool: if you're trying to figure out why an artist writes the way they do, talking to a Style DNA simulation is faster than reading interviews.

6. Custom Lyricist — a four-step wizard that lets you build your own AI songwriter. Pro users get one custom artist; Elite users get three. This is where serious songwriters codify their own voice as a Style DNA profile.

7. Style Rewriter — paste existing lyrics and transform them into another artist's voice while preserving the theme. Useful for editing, A/B testing different vocal directions, and learning by example.

The reason all seven tools sit on the same platform — rather than being separate products — is that they share the underlying Style DNA infrastructure. Once we'd built the analysis pipeline and the generation engine, each new tool was a new entry point into the same engine.

The honest comparison table

We publish this on the homepage because we think transparency wins long-term:

| Capability | Melody Genie | LyricStudio | Freshbots | Suno | ChatGPT | |---|---|---|---|---|---| | Artist Style DNA | ✓ | ✗ | ✗ | ✗ | ✗ | | Beat-matched lyrics | ✓ | ✗ | ✗ | ✗ | ✗ | | Multi-artist blend | ✓ | ✗ | ✗ | ✗ | ✗ | | Voice → lyrics | ✓ | ✗ | ✗ | ✗ | ✗ | | Languages | 15+ | 1 | 1 | N/A | All | | Starting price | Free / $5.99 | $5.99/mo | Free | Free / $10 | Free / $20 |

ChatGPT can technically write lyrics in any language, but without Style DNA conditioning, the output is generic. Suno generates audio, which is a different product category. LyricStudio and Freshbots are direct competitors but lack the artist-specific analysis layer. We are the only platform that combines all of these into a single workflow.

The 15-language bet

One of the early decisions we made — and one that turned out to be more important than we initially thought — was building Melody Genie multilingual from day one. Not "English + machine translation," but actual native-language Style DNA profiles.

When you generate Bad Bunny lyrics, you get real Puerto Rican Spanish with the slang and code-switching he actually uses. When you generate Booba lyrics, you get French rap vocabulary with the verlan and Arabic loanwords that are specific to the Paris suburbs scene. When you generate Capital Bra lyrics, you get the Russian-German code-switching that defines his style.

The result is that today, Melody Genie covers English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Arabic, Russian, Japanese, Korean, Turkish, Italian, Dutch, Swedish, Polish, and Hindi — and the artist roster reflects that. Of our 40+ pre-analyzed artists, less than half are English-language. Bad Bunny, Feid, Karol G, Rosalia, Booba, Aya Nakamura, Capital Bra, Sido, BTS RM, and Fujii Kaze all have full Style DNA profiles.

This made organic growth in non-English markets dramatically easier than it would have been with an English-first product retrofitted later.

Pricing as a product decision

The pricing structure for Melody Genie reflects what we learned from running other SaaS products:

The decisions worth flagging: we kept the Free tier permanent rather than time-limited, we made all 7 tools available on Free (so users discover the full platform before paying), and we made the Pro→Elite jump large enough that Pro feels like a complete product rather than a stepping stone. These pricing decisions are infrastructure-level — they define how acquisition, conversion, and retention behave at every scale.

For comparing pricing strategies in the broader SaaS landscape, see our writeups on Ahrefs alternatives and Moz alternatives — different markets, but the same pricing-as-product principles.

What Georion shipped to make Melody Genie possible

This is the part where the case study connects back to Georion. Building Melody Genie required infrastructure that we built first for ourselves and now offer as Georion features:

SEO foundation — Melody Genie was indexed and ranking for "AI lyric generator" within six weeks of launch, which is faster than the niche typically allows. That speed came from Georion's GEO acceleration toolkit — sitemap optimization, schema.org generation, IndexNow submissions to Bing and ChatGPT Search the moment a page goes live.

Content velocity — the Melody Genie blog ships a new post every 1-3 days, covering Style DNA breakdowns, songwriting guides, and product features. That content cadence is what's driving organic discovery for long-tail queries like "how to write K-pop hooks" and "how Billie Eilish writes." We use Georion's community drafts and auto-refresh to keep this pipeline moving without burning a content team.

LLM-readable site — Melody Genie ships /llms.txt and /llms-full.txt so AI agents can understand the product structurally. It also registers a WebMCP provider so AI assistants can navigate the site programmatically. Both are standard Georion features that ship with every site we run.

Showcase placement — Melody Genie is listed on Georion's showcase page alongside our other products (PilotJob, Beat Legion, Hybrid Hand). That cross-linking helps both directions: Georion gets product credibility, Melody Genie gets referral traffic from people researching the company.

The point is not that Georion built Melody Genie. The point is that Melody Genie demonstrates what's possible when you have the right infrastructure, and Georion is the version of that infrastructure that other founders can now use directly.

What we learned shipping Melody Genie

Three lessons that generalize beyond music tech:

1. Niche-specific data beats model size. Style DNA is a small, custom-engineered data layer on top of an off-the-shelf model. It outperforms much larger general-purpose systems for this specific task because it's grounded in the actual mechanics of how artists write. The lesson: if you're building an AI product in a vertical, your moat is the domain-specific data infrastructure, not the model.

2. Multilingual from day one is cheaper than retrofitting. We spent six weeks getting the Spanish, French, and German Style DNA profiles right at launch. That investment paid for itself in non-English organic traffic within four months. Retrofitting would have cost us 3-5x as much engineering time and a year of lost SEO compounding.

3. Free tiers are infrastructure, not marketing. The free tier of Melody Genie is what generates the user feedback, the social media moments (someone always tweets a DNA Mixer output), and the bottom-of-funnel awareness. It's not a "hook" — it's the actual product surface that 75% of our users live on. The 5% who convert to paid are funded by the 95% who don't.

Try it yourself

If you want to see how Style DNA actually performs, the fastest path is:

  1. Visit melodygenie.app
  2. Click Start Free (no credit card)
  3. Pick an artist whose style you know well — Drake, Bad Bunny, Billie Eilish, whoever
  4. Generate a song in that style
  5. Compare it mentally to the artist's actual output

The Style DNA approach lives or dies on whether the lyrics actually sound like the artist. The fastest way to evaluate it is to try it on someone you can fact-check.

For songwriters who want to go deeper, the Custom Lyricist tool is the one we'd recommend testing — it's where you build your own Style DNA profile and use Melody Genie as a tool for codifying your voice rather than imitating someone else's.

What's next

Melody Genie's roadmap for the rest of 2026 includes the iOS and Android apps (currently web + Android), a public API for third-party integrations, expanded Style DNA coverage for Asian and African artists (right now those regions are under-represented in our roster), and tighter integration with DAWs for direct export of generated lyrics into songwriting workflows.

For Georion, the next product in the pipeline is being built on the same playbook — niche-specific, multilingual from day one, infrastructure-first. We'll have more to say about it in the next few months.

In the meantime, if you're building a SaaS product and want the same SEO and GEO infrastructure that's powering Melody Genie's growth, start with Georion's free tier — same pattern, no credit card.

FAQ

What makes Melody Genie different from ChatGPT for lyrics? ChatGPT writes lyrics from a generic language model with no artist-specific conditioning. Melody Genie analyzes 14-20 real songs per artist to build a Style DNA profile that captures vocabulary, rhyme schemes, slang, ad-libs, and theme distributions. The result is lyrics that match a specific artist's mechanics, not generic verses with the artist's name dropped in.

Is Style DNA legal? Does it copy copyrighted lyrics? Style DNA captures stylistic patterns (rhyme schemes, vocabulary frequency, themes) — not specific lyrical content. Style is not copyrightable; only the original lyrical text is. Melody Genie's generated output is transformative and is owned by the user. Commercial use is permitted on Starter and higher tiers. The full position is documented on Melody Genie's About page.

Which artists are pre-analyzed on the platform? Melody Genie ships with 40+ pre-analyzed Style DNA profiles spanning English (Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Eminem, Travis Scott, Billie Eilish), Spanish (Bad Bunny, Feid, Karol G, Rosalia, Anuel AA, J Balvin, Ozuna, Daddy Yankee, Myke Towers, Rauw Alejandro), French (Booba, Aya Nakamura), German (Capital Bra, Sido), Korean (BTS RM), Japanese (Fujii Kaze), and more. The roster expands weekly.

How does Beat Matcher actually work? You upload an instrumental file. Whisper analyzes the audio to detect BPM, energy level, and overall vibe. The system then generates lyrics with syllable counts that fit the tempo — short punchy bars for fast beats, longer melodic lines for slow beats. The output is matched to your specific instrumental, not a generic tempo template.

Can I use Melody Genie commercially? Yes, on Starter ($5.99/month) and higher tiers. The Free tier includes a watermark and is intended for personal use. Output on paid tiers is owned entirely by the user with no royalty claims from Melody Genie.

What's the relationship between Melody Genie and Georion? Melody Genie is a product built by Georion. Georion is the underlying SEO and GEO platform; Melody Genie is one of several products we've built on top of it. The same infrastructure that powers Melody Genie's organic growth (sitemap optimization, schema generation, IndexNow submissions, multilingual indexing) is available to other founders through Georion's features.

How does the Custom Lyricist tool differ from the artist roster? The 40+ pre-analyzed artists let you generate in someone else's voice. The Custom Lyricist tool lets you define your own — a four-step wizard where you specify language, vocabulary, slang, themes, rhyme preferences, and reference artists. Pro tier users get 1 Custom Artist; Elite tier gets 3.

Is there a free trial for Pro? The Free tier is permanent, not a trial. It includes all 7 tools and the full artist roster, capped at 5 lyrics per month. Most users start there and upgrade to Starter or Pro once they hit the cap.

What languages does Melody Genie support? Currently 15: English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Arabic, Russian, Japanese, Korean, Turkish, Italian, Dutch, Swedish, Polish, and Hindi. Each language has native vocabulary and slang — not machine-translated English.

Where can I follow Melody Genie updates? The Melody Genie blog ships new posts every 1-3 days. The team is also active on X/Twitter (@melodygenie), Instagram, and TikTok. For Georion's broader updates on AI product building, follow @Georionapp.
